Does a Natural Libido Supplement really work? MACA – You need some!

We would all love to admit we have a completely normal functioning libido.

One that is ready to indulge our carnal pleasures at any opportunity.

Ahem.. given the stars have aligned and desire is burning in our bellies.

As we all know, in our day to day reality… our libido levels tend to ebb and flow.

So many things can dull our sex drive. Influences like stress, life demands, hormone changes, poor nutrition and lack of exercise can all negatively impact on your libido.

Unfortunately there is also incompatibility with your lover (which I don’t know if any amount of anything can really fix that one).

When I started exploring libido boosters for myself (when my giddy up button just wasn’t doing the giddy up anymore) – I was only ever going to consider exploring something natural and wholesome to put in my body. Everything seemed to point towards Maca Powder.

Maca Powder (Peruvian ginseng) is a South American Superfood. The Maca root itself is ground up to make Maca Powder. Maca originates from the Andes Mountains in Peru where it has been used for thousands of years for its health benefits. Maca comes from the cruciferous family of vegetables known for its healing health benefits.

Benefits of Maca Powder

Increases your libido and virility (female and male)
Balances hormones
Boosts stamina and strength
Reduces erectile dysfunction
Stimulates sexual sensation
Enhances mood
Supports menopause

Aside from all the wonderful benefits for improving your sexual health, Maca powder is also packed full of nutritional benefits – antioxidants, amino acids and vitamins.

When I started taking Maca powder, I started with a heaped teaspoon in a smoothie everyday. Most recommend taking up to 1 – 2 tablespoons of Maca powder per day. I would take what feels right for you. And like anything natural, the results take time to show signs of making a difference in your body.

I would say after 2-3 weeks of taking Maca powder everyday I definitely noticed an increase in my own libido levels. My sexual desires were enhanced (I remember noticing I was ready and primed for my husband’s body to avail itself to me whenever possible). Overall my body responded to taking Maca powder gradually. My hormones began evening out, particularly around that favourite time of the month – PMS just didn’t feel so extreme. Like anything natural – instant results are not going to happen here. But the long term benefits to your sexual health will be far safer and noticeable.

I should make mention I also gave the same Maca dosage to my husband (well why not!) as a natural libido supplement. The difference I noticed was endurance and energy levels. Kind of hot really!

Like any herbal supplement, Maca will work better in some than others. If you like the sounds of Maca powder as a natural libido booster, then take it for a week and see how you feel. Listen to your body as you know it best, it will tell you how you feel – so pay attention to it!

I would research further if you have issues with your thyroid, as this can impair function and avoid while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Have you found any effects from taking Maca powder? Let me know your thoughts from this experience.
